Canada’s Marie-Pier Préfontaine was once again the fastest skier down the two giant slalom runs in Sunday River, Maine today beating the field by over two seconds at the NorAm Cup race. She finished with a two-run combined time of 2:36.57. 
 
Nadja Vogel from Switzerland stood on the second step of the podium with a combined time of 2:38.87. Canadian Elli Terwiel rounded out the podium finishing in third with a time of 2:40.48.
 
The men were once again competing across the border in the Val Saint-Côme, QC for the second NorAm slalom event of the series, where University of Vermont’s Jonathan Nordbotten finished first with a two-run combined time of 1:34.14. 
 
Two Americans completed the podium as U.S. Ski Team team’s Will Gregorak finished second with a time of 1:34.86 and teammate Colby Granstrom finished third with a time of 1:35.00.
 
The top Canadian in Val Saint-Côme was Ryan Semple who finished fourth with a time of 1:35.03, finished only three one-hundredths of a second shy away from the podium.
 
“In the last two days, my first runs were pretty decent but I’m having difficulties with my second runs. Today’s race was tight but I didn’t have enough in me to win it. Anything but a win is disappointing,” said Semple.
 
“I came here to get some FIS points and some training in before the slalom World Cup race in Adelboden next weekend. I was in a position to win and that was the goal but it didn’t happen,” added Semple who is leaving for Europe Thursday.
 
The NorAm in Quebec will switch to Mont-Garceau for two GS men’s races. The ladies are staying in Sunday River but will be switching to slalom.
