Video: GBR slalom star Dave Ryding joins Chemmy Alcott in new Facebook show
Chemmy Alcott, a four-time Olympian for Great Britain and occasional BBC broadcaster, kicked off her new Facebook show, ‘Going Off Piste With…’ in early June. Her first guest is her old British teammate, the slalom specialist Dave Ryding.
Ryding is known in Great Britain as the best ski racer to ever come through their alpine program. At 33, he finished the 2019-20 World Cup season ranked 13th in slalom. The year prior, he ranked 9th in the world. He’s competed in three Olympics, and had two World Cup podiums over the course of his career.
In the show, Alcott and Ryding joke about what was more disappointing for him in 2020, having to finish his ski season early or cancel his wedding, in addition to playing a few fun games including ‘Dish the Dirt’, where Ryding spills secrets about the men’s World Cup top 15 slalom racers.
When asked about who has the most aggressive pre-race warm-up, Ryding quickly replied:
“Henrik (Kristoffersen) likes to think he’s boss of the joint, and (Ramon) Zenhauesern starts mooing like a cow. You don’t want to stand behind Zenhauesern in the start gate.”
