Vonn after the Lake Louise SG, where she placed fifth (GEPA/Christopher Kelemen)

After a solid return to racing in Lake Louise last weekend — she finished fifth in the super G — Lindsey Vonn announced today she will skip this week’s events, a super G and GS, in St. Moritz, Switzerland, but is planning to compete in the Dec. 21 downhill in Val d’Isere, France.

Val d’Isere has been mostly good to Vonn over the years. The American has won the event three times, but a tough crash last season sent her into the nets and was her final race before taking a mid-season hiatus.

Vonn is expected to compete in selected World Cup events leading up to the Winter Games in Sochi, although no further schedule has been announced.
