What World Cup Skiers Do During Their Down Time

Apr 24, 2018

When you spend your winters on the road immersed in ski racing, it’s important to have hobbies to fill the free time. In places like Kvitfjell, Norway, fans might spot competitors on the men’s World Cup tour playing soccer outside the hotel.

“It’s really fun, and also very good for coordination and dexterity, which is important for a ski racer,” says Josef Ferstl of the German World Cup team.

Other athletes prefer playing cards or video games. If you’re Aksel Lund Svindal, “eating is a big part of the program.”
