After every regular World Cup season, the best 25 in each discipline are invited to compete in their event at the World Cup Finals. The FIS also invites the reigning FIS World Junior Champion to compete in their discipline. This season’s women’s super-G junior champion is Albania’s Lara Colturi. Unfortunately, Colturi was injured at the 2023 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Méribel, France and will not compete in the Andorra races.
Also, the overall title contenders with 500 points or more points can compete in all the events. As it stands at the moment, this season, there are only two women who are not among the top 25 super-G skiers qualified for the finals who are eligible. However, it is unlikely either will compete.
Ages of the best 25
The average age of the best 25 women’s super-G skiers of the season is 28.8 years old. The youngest among the 25 best is New Zealand’s, 21-year-old Alice Robinson. The oldest is Austria’s, Nicole Schmidhofer who is 33. Notably, the average age of the seven 2022-23 World Cup super-G winners was 29.1 and the average age of the highest-ranked top ten is 29.6.
The women’s super-G has been the most competitive discipline of the 2023 World Cup. There have been different winners in all seven World Cups. Switzerland and Austria have won two each, USA, Italy, and Norway have each won one. However, an eighth racer, the twenty-seven-year-old Italian Marta Bassino won the 2023 Meribel World Championship super-G.

North Americans
It required 72 super-G World Cup points this season to qualify for the finals. Notably, Stifel US Alpine Team member Mikaela Shiffrin (6th) is the only US woman who has qualified for the World Cup super-G finals. None of the Canadian women could earn an invitation to race super-G in Soldeu Andorra.
The women’s World Cup super-G final is scheduled for March 16th.
Seven nations have an athlete ranked in the top 25 super-G season standings
- Austria has 7
- Switzerland has 6
- Italy has 4
- France has 3
- Norway has 2
- USA has 1
- Germany has 1
- New Zealand has 1
- Albania has the World Junior Champion

The women’s super-G title is still very competitive. There are five women from four nations who are still able to win the discipline globe in Andorra. The finals race will decide which of the five will claim the 2023 title. This will be an inspiring event to watch.
Due to the limited field size, only the top 15 finishers earn World Cup points at the World Cup finals.
