After four days of racing in Canada, the women crossed the border to Whiteface Mountain for a quick three-day HomeLight Foundation NorAm series. On Monday, four different winners were awarded across two super-G and two alpine combined races.

The ladies kicked off their morning with two scored super-G races. Alpine Canada took both wins with veteran Candace Crawford winning the first race for a Canadian sweep. Behind her were teammates Stefanie Fleckenstein and rookie teammate Britt Richardson.

Richardson has just come off her first NorAm podium last series in back-to-back GS races. After finishing third in the first run, Richardson moved up to overcome teammate Fleckenstein for the win. Fleckenstein remained in second place while U.S. Ski Team’s Ava Sunshine Jemison improved on her first race to move into third.

“I have only trained a few days of super-G this year so I went into these races with little to no expectations so I was really happy to leave with a first and third in the super-G races,” said Richardson. “After the first race I knew I had more so I pushed a little harder in the second race and it paid off.”

The women switched into their slalom skis for two alpine combined races in the afternoon.

Canada’s Kiara Alexander moved from sixth place in the super-G to capture the first alpine combined win. Just behind Alexander was U.S. independent Lila Lapanja, who decided on Sunday to race in the alpine combined.

“I wasn’t expecting to race the alpine combined since I hadn’t been on my super-G skis in a long time,” said Lapanja. “I decided to take it as training and get more super-G miles in. To run two races, two disciplines and four runs in one day is a lot, especially in below zero temps, but the snow and weather were prime.”

After being fourth in the first alpine combined race, Jemison took her momentum from her third-place super-G run and moved into the top spot. The 19-year old has now finished top five in her last eight NorAm finishes over the previous week.

Arianne Forget of Canada scored her career-first NorAm podium finishing in second ahead of teammate Fleckenstein. After she finished 11th in the super-G portion, Forget had the fastest slalom run to move onto the podium. Consistency was key for Fleckenstein, who held her position and placed third for both alpine combined races.

The ladies will return to Whiteface on Tuesday for GS.
