Due to heavy overnight snowfall that continued into Saturday morning, the women’s World Cup downhill in Val d’Isere has been cancelled.

The overnight forecast for Val d’Isere initially called for approximately 10-15 centimeters of snow to fall Friday night with clearer skies developing into Saturday morning. After the initial predicted snowfall subsided, upwards of 20 additional centimeters of snow ended up falling into late Saturday morning. After morning delays to attempt to clear the fresh snow off the track, continuing precipitation and warming temperatures forced the jury to cancel Saturday’s race.

Later Saturday afternoon, it was announced that the downhill will be rescheduled for Sunday, December 22, with a start time of 11:00 am CET. Sunday’s originally scheduled alpine combined has been cancelled.
