Who is racing, when and how to watch the women’s Crans Montana downhill

The women’s World Cup will again try to resume their season in Crans Montana Switzerland. Rather than the scheduled super-G they will attempt another downhill tomorrow Sunday, February 26th. Today’s race was doomed from the start. Thursday’s training run was canceled due to warm soft snow. Friday’s surface was at the limit and last night was overcast and warm which didn’t create a suitable race surface.

However, the FIS and Crans Montana did their best to host a race. But then a band of fog in the middle of the course created a two-hour delay that turned into a cancelation after the first forerunner. While skiing the course he made it clear the surface was too soft for one racer let alone a full field.

Notably, Crans Montana will host the 2027 Alpine World Ski Championships.

The weather forecast calls for lower overnight temperatures. Consequently, tomorrow’s race surface could be considerably harder and faster than the Friday training run.

With only one marginal training run expect the more experienced racers to rise to the top. Notably, North America’s best-ranked downhill racer, Mikaela Shiffrin, will not be racing. Shiffrin is currently preparing to resume her race program on March 1st in Kivitjel Norway.
