Featured Alumni

Athletic Approach: The Winter Sports School is strictly a college preparatory academic institution, and we are out of session during the winter months. Our students are therefore completely free to choose whichever coach or team will be the best fit for them, anywhere in the world. It also means that we are able to educate all students, practicing any winter sports discipline, as opposed to only a subset. At The Winter Sports School, skiers and snowboarders study alongside ski jumpers, figure skaters, speed skaters, luge and skeleton athletes, and others who often cannot attend institutions that package academics with athletics.

Notable Alumni: Ted Ligety, Megan McJames, Steve Holcomb, Sarah Hendrickson, Andrew Weibrecht, Alex Schlopy, Todd Ligare,  Ben Loomis, Brian Fletcher, Darien Stevens, Izzy Atkin, Alex Hall, Colby Stevenson, and Joss Christensen.

Recent graduates have matriculated at: Williams, Dartmouth, Middlebury, USC, Colorado College, Montana State University, University of Utah, West Point, CU Boulder, Babson,  and St. Lawrence.

Academic Approach: Our condensed school year and college-preparatory focus mean academics are intense and rigorous at WSS. Emphasizing comprehension over apprehension, critical thinking over rote memorization, we aim to instill in students a driving curiosity, and life-long love of learning. The Winter Sports School is fully accredited by Cognia (formerly AdvancED) and offers an Elite Athlete Flex Program with blended online and face-to-face solutions to better meet the training and travel requirements of nationally recognized elite athletes.

Training Facilities: The Winter Sports School’s location offers a unique set of training venues and facilities for our students, with access to the world-class training facilities used by the United States National Ski & Snowboarding, Bobsled, Luge, Skelton, Biathlon, and Nordic Jumping teams.
