The World Cup Dreams Foundation (WCD), a non-profit designed to provide financial aid to the country’s elite level ski racers, will host an “Evening With the National Alpine Ski Team,” Friday, Nov. 13 in Vail, Colo.

The event will take place at The Arrabelle at Vail Square in the newly redesigned Lionshead Village. The evening will include silent and live auctions and dining with athletes like Erik Fisher, Scott Macartney, Steven Nyman, Marco Sullivan, Keely Kelleher, Chelsea Marshall and Leanne Smith.

For a $200 donation you can enjoy what promises to be an unforgettable evening and support some of the country’s most promising and deserving ski racers. Attendees will be treated to a three-course plated dinner.

Attendance is looking good according to WCD Executive Director Jennifer Vance. “This week we’ve had a huge influx of calls and emails, people are getting really excited,” said Vance.

Friday’s event will mark the second time the foundation has hosted a Vail area gathering.

“Obviously the biggest draw is going to be the athletes, by far,” said Vance. “We have a couple of really cool items in the live auction.”

Items up for the highest bidder in the live auction include an unlimited, open-bar cocktail party for 20 at the “Sculptured house” featured in the 1973 Woody Allen film “Sleepers,” sky box tickets at a Colorado Rockies game and an autographed Lindsey Vonn race suit.

“As far as I can tell the support for the sport in the Vail area is huge,” said Vance. “People are just so excited to support, and with Lindsey [Vonn] living here this winter that’s really gotten people excited.”

“Our goal this year is to utilize these fundraisers and some private donations to find funding so that we can support the athletes throughout the season, so for all of them that need to find their own funding we are going to do our best to support as many of then as we’re able.”

Since former U.S. Ski Team members Bryon Friedman and Erik Schlopy founded the World Cup Dreams Foundation four years ago, it has raised more than $100,000 in support of U.S. Ski Team members.
