Worlds profiles: Keppler calls for cameras
German racer Stephan Keppler has landed in the top 30 in World Cup super G and downhill races on 19 occasions, finishing eighth twice in 2006. He was 24th in the world championship super G at Val d’Isere earlier this week and says that if he should crash in the worlds downhill race – not that he sees it happening – he hopes the cameras are on him.

What do you tell yourself in the start gate?
Just, “do what I can.” Also, “if you’re going into the fence, be sure that the camera is watching.” I want to see my crash. The last times I crashed, I crashed where there were no cameras.”
When you think of Val d’Isere, what’s the first thing that comes to mind?
I crashed here two years ago, but it’s not a problem. It wasn’t on this (world championship) track. Last year I was very slow in this race. It’s not my favorite place.
What do you do when you’re not skiing?
There’s no time in the winter for anything, but in summer I like some kinds of water sports. I also like bowling. My best score is 211.
