2 downhills in Beaver Creek? It’s under consideration

Friday’s canceled race in Lake Louise is already causing scheduling challenges for the men’s World Cup speed program, according to Markus Waldner, FIS race director.

On Friday, Waldner commented at the team captain’s meeting in Lake Louise that his proposed changes include adding a downhill to an already packed Beaver Creek schedule next week. The suggestion is for downhill training on Wednesday, followed by two super G races Thursday and Friday and two downhill races over the weekend, Dec. 4-5.

A spokesman for the Vail Valley Foundation, organizer of the Birds of Prey, said the addition is under consideration, but “a lot of things have to fall into place.” More information should be released in the coming days.
