New Zealand’s Alice Robinson, born in Sydney, Australia, has the ability and ambition to compete for titles and globes.

After all, the young 21-year-old from Queenstown is not only the 2019 FIS Junior World GS champion; starting in the 2019 season, she has also accumulated five World Cup podiums, three of which were victories. Recently, however, the results, although excellent, could have been more spectacular.

Although her 2023 performance returned her to the top 15 in GS she felt a need for a change. Last season she switched equipment to Salomon from Marker / Dalbello / Völkl, the brands that partnered with Robinson for all her podiums.

Staff changes for 2024

This year, she has decided to change her coaching staff. Robinson has worked with the accomplished coaches Chris Knight and Jeff Fergus for the past three seasons. Fergus is from the US and Knight is from New Zealand. Both coaches are well known for their friendship and success with the US Ski Team, Lindsey Vonn and Robinson. They also own and operate one of the best independent women’s teams, International Ski Racing Academy, based in Italy, better known as ISRA.

Robison trained with ISRA but was not actually a patch-wearing uniformed member. Understandably, the demands on Knight and Fergus to operate the highly professional ISRA while providing a truly elite program for one of the world’s best had become too much to manage.

Familiar new staff

Robinson’s technical program will now be the responsibility of her former Coberger Academy coach, Tim Cafe, whom she had previously worked with during multiple seasons, including her first two years of FIS racing. The Robinson team will also utilize the organizational expertise of the accomplished Nils Coberger.

The trio has just finished a productive ten-day camp in Livigno, Italy—four days of speed training with the fantastic Italian women and five days of GS training independently. The report from Itay was conditions were brilliant and Livigno was amazing.

Robinson is one of the most exciting skiers in the World Cup. She is highly respected for her all-in and fearless approach to the sport. Her assertive and aggressive approach to ski racing thrills fans whenever she leaves a start gate. With her new but familiar staff, expect to see continuing world-class results.
