Apply for a scholarship to ski with Jacqueline Wiles

This July, young racers can train with World Cup athlete Jacqueline Wiles at the 2017 Jackie Wiles White Pass Summer Race Camp presented by Directors Mortgage. The camp is offering one scholarship for a young racer to come to Mt. Hood from July 7 – 13, thanks to support from Directors Mortgage.

Wiles understands what it takes to keep skiing competitively – time, perseverance, physical fitness and a financial commitment that can sometimes be difficult. This year at her camp, the U.S. Ski Team athlete wanted to help a young skier who may not be able to attend because of financial constraints, so she partnered with Directors Mortgage.

“It just made sense for us to sponsor Jackie, as a local athlete in pursuit of her dreams,” said Mark J. Hanna, founder and CEO of Directors Mortgage. “The commitment she has for skiing parallels the commitment we have for taking care of our clients and our community. She is a part of our community, and we are honored to sponsor her and her camp as well as provide a scholarship for a young racer.”

This camp is an opportunity for U14 and older racers to gain experience and knowledge both on and off the mountain. This week-long camp is a mix of hard work and fun. Along with several other coaches, Wiles will be working with young racers to further develop their alpine race skills.

While mainly focused on skills, drills and gate training, the camp will have off-snow activities including educational and motivational talks with Wiles. Campers will discuss challenges like overcoming life’s obstacles, bouncing back from bad races, fighting for their dreams and what it’s like to be a competitive athlete on a global stage. And the U.S. Ski Team star hopes to help the kids make life-long friendships during camp.
