Who is racing, when and how to watch the Friday, March 10th Åre GS

Are, Sweden will host the best women’s giant slalom skier on Friday, March 10th. It will be an opportunity for Stifel US Alpine Team member Mikaela Shiffrin to clinch the 2023 giant slalom title, earn her sixth giant slalom victory of the season and equal the 86 World Cup win total of Sweden’s Ingemar Stenmark. It doesn’t get better than that.

This will also be the last chance for the women to finish the regular season among the top 25 in the season’s GS standings and, by doing so, earn their invitation to the World Cup GS finals in Soldeu Andorra.

This has been Shiffrin’s best season of giant slalom and it has been a pleasure for all skiing fans to watch. No matter the outcome, the field will offer fantastic skiing. Undoubtedly, amazing athletes will execute the near impossible.

Women’s GS is must see tv

Considering that women’s GS is very compelling and Shiffrin’s 2023 win rate every women’s giant slalom race is a must-see.

There have been eight women’s giant slaloms this season and we have seen four different winners. Stifel US Alpine Team member and World Champion, Mikaela Shiffrin has won five giant slaloms this season and Switzerland’s Lara Gut-Behrami, Italy’s Marta Bassino and Canada’s Valerie Grenier have each won one. There are four women who mathematically could win the GS title, however, Shiffrin has a commanding 118-point lead with only two giant slaloms remaining on the calendar.

The Alpine Canada Alpin team has one woman starting tomorrow and the Stifel US Alpine Team has four.

The women’s first run starts at 4:00 am Eastern Time and 1:00 am on the West Coast. The second run will begin at 7:00 am Eastern Time and 4:00 am on the West Coast.  

In the USA, the women’s World Cups in Åre will be available for viewing live and as a replay on the streaming service Ski and Snowboard Live. World-class ski racing commentator Steve Porino is announcing the Åre races. The races will also be simulcast on Peacock.
