Atle Lie McGrath’s season is over
The season is over for Norway’s Atle Lie McGrath, who announced on social media this week that he would not be able to return from a torn MCL, which he sustained after a nasty crash in Adelboden. It had been previously reported that McGrath would miss only six weeks due to a strain of the ligament, but further medical evaluation revealed a more serious injury.
“Just like that my season is over. Tore my MCL in my crash in Adelboden and will have surgery already on Saturday,” he wrote on Instagram. “This has by far been the coolest season I’ve ever had! I’ve experienced so many great moments this year, and also doing it with with my boys just made it that much better. Traveling around with @alpineteamnorway is definitely what I’m going to miss the most!”
The news comes just days after an announcement from McGrath’s countryman, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, that his season is also over and not long after the same outlook was reported for Lucas Braathen — rounding out a tough stretch for the Norwegians.
“Also want to thank everyone for the amazing support this year,” McGrath finished. “Means a lot to me. Already hungry and motivated to kick some ass next season!”
