The powerhouse alpine nation of Austria is accustomed to significant success. This season both the men and women finished third in their Nations Cups. Combined genders, they finished second to Switzerland.

It takes fantastic skiing to win a World Cup race. However, there is little room at the top in the era of Mikaela Shiffrin, Marco Odermatt, Sofia Goggia and Aleksander Aamodt Kilde. However, during the 2022-23 season, four Austrian team members earned seven World Cup victories.

Austria is a nation that consistently earns Nations Cups, World Championship titles and Globes. During the 2022-23 season, they notably made none. However, Vincent Kriechmayr won four downhills, Nina Ortlieb and Cornelia Hütter each won a super-G, and Marco Schwarz won the Palisades Tahoe giant slalom.

Notably, this season, alpine ski racing saw the mid-season retirement of three-time Olympic Champion, Austrian Matthias Mayer.
