Burke Mountain Academy (BMA) is seeking a Men’s FIS Assistant Coach to support its high-performance alpine ski racing program. This role focuses on on-snow coaching and strength and conditioning development, helping athletes progress across technical, tactical, and physical areas.

The Men’s FIS Assistant Coach works directly with the Head Coach and High Performance Director Darrell Gray to deliver an athlete-centered, high-performance training environment.


Role Overview

The Men’s FIS Assistant Coach leads daily training and competition support while helping design and execute individualized athlete development plans. The role combines elite-level ski coaching, strength and conditioning programming, and athlete management.

This position reports to the Men’s Head Coach, who reports to the Sport Director.


Key Responsibilities

  • Coach athletes on snow in training and competition environments
  • Collaborate with the Head Coach to build and execute seasonal training and competition plans
  • Develop individualized athlete programs across technical, tactical, and physical areas
  • Lead strength and conditioning programming for the Men’s FIS team
  • Track athlete progress and complete three formal evaluations annually
  • Support race preparation, travel, and competition execution
  • Assist with event hosting, including course setting, maintenance, and fencing
  • Manage communication around athlete schedules and logistics
  • Contribute to budgeting and program operations
  • Attend all coaching and staff meetings
  • Support the broader Burke Mountain Academy community

Qualifications

  • US Ski & Snowboard Level 3 Alpine Coach certification
  • Strong background in strength and conditioning
  • Experience leading and mentoring young male athletes
  • Effective communication skills with athletes, parents, and staff
  • Ability to design and implement dryland training programs
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar)
  • Positive, energetic, and team-oriented mindset
