Friday’s super G wrapped up the Lake Louise NorAm speed series, and the Canadians once again emerged with victories. On the men’s side, Kyle Alexander and Riley Seger took first and second place, respectively. For women, Candace Crawford won, improving on her second-place result in the downhill a day earlier.
Kyle Alexander, 22, clocked the fastest time today in the men’s super G, after finishing second in both downhill races behind teammate Jeff Read. Alexander’s time of 1:01.04 was just over half a second faster than his Canadian teammate, Riley Seger, and Jay Poulter, 18, of Steamboat Springs.
Poulter was followed by his American teammates Isaiah Nelson, Tristan Lane, and Spencer Wright in fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively. American Tanner Perkins finished in 10th.

International Ski Racing Academy racer Candace Crawford, of Toronto, took the top spot in the women’s race, ahead of Alix Wilkinson, of Team Palisades Tahoe and Whistler’s Stefanie Fleckenstein. It was the third medal in as many days for Fleckenstein, 24, who won the two downhill races at Lake Louise on Wednesday and Thursday. It was also the 17th NorAm podium for the veteran racer who has shifted her focus to the speed events after three seasons racing with University of Colorado. Fleckenstein is now with the International Ski Racing Academy program as she pursues Canadian national team criteria.
“After spending the week racing the World Cup from the back of the pack in some challenging conditions, it was so great to race the NorAm track,” Fleckenstein said. “The woman’s field atmosphere is unlike most other NorAms because it’s a pretty small group of us and there’s a lot of camaraderie. Being able to win both downhills was a huge confidence boost for me and it was really cool to watch some of the younger girls sending it. Overall I’m super happy with how the week went and the volunteers deserve a lot of credit for how well the races ran because they worked their butts off.”
Alix Wilkinson was the top American woman of the day, finishing in second place. Her teammates Lauren Macuga and Ava Jemison finished in sixth and seventh, within two seconds of Crawford.
