Canceled women’s downhill to be made up in Cortina

Tthe ladies’ downhill originally scheduled in Bad Kleinkirchheim, Austria, and canceled last week will be replaced in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy on Friday, Jan. 16. The new program at Cortina will be as follows:

Thursday, Jan. 15: downhill training
Friday, Jan. 16: downhill race (replacing Bad Kleinkirchheim), starting time 9:30 CET
Saturday, Jan. 17: downhill race, starting time 10:30 CET
Sunday, Jan. 18: super G, starting time 11:00 CET

But, as the old saying goes, if you want a snowstorm just schedule a speed race. Although the weather in Cortina is forecast to be clear through Thursday, a storm carrying significant snowfall may hit the area as early as Friday morning. It is possible that Monday might be used as a weather day at the venue if necessary.
