Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- CPR/First Aid certification
- CSCS or comparable.
- Ski and/or snowboard experience/knowledge
- SafeSport certification
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
- A love of working with young athletes and the ability to connect with them.
- A desire to develop professionally to become the best coach you can be.
Job Summary
The candidate will serve as the sports performance coach for all student-athletes at CVA full-time (late August to early June), plus some remote summer programming oversight. The ideal candidate’s qualities include enthusiasm, a love of working with young athletes, a desire for professional growth, and the ability to connect with athletes. Compensation is competitive, with housing possible. Coaches receive a Sugarloaf ski pass and other CVA employee benefits. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Creates, schedules, communicates, educates, and coaches strength and conditioning programs for ski and snowboard athletes from 7th grade to postgraduate level.
- Organization and administration duties include maintenance of the high-performance facility, including instituting a cleaning and maintenance schedule for all equipment.
- Provides supervision during the open hours of the HPC.
- Serves as a member of the high-performance team with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. The candidate will help set goals for the program and effectively prepare and coordinate dryland schedules based on the team’s goals, requiring an ability to be flexible, organized, and multi-task. Participates in USSS HPC education and meetings.
- Organizes and runs Skills Quest Fitness Testing with the support of the HPD. Includes data input, reporting, and utilizing this data to develop strength and conditioning goals.
- Educates staff and students on all aspects of high performance and implements strategies to track, encourage, and develop these skills.
- Connect with young athletes and work collaboratively with the wellness team, parents, and staff.
Other Duties
- Attends seminars, conferences, and other professional development opportunities.
- Covers shifts as part of a weekday and weekend duty team as per the contract defined.
- Potential to serve as the “return to snow” coach if the candidate has skills/passion in this area.
- Helps with drives to medical appointments for athletes as able.
- Under the direction and guidance of the Academic Success Program Director, perform 3-4 hours of tutoring per week in the ASP during the academic day.
- Performs other duties as requested.
