Organizers of the 2015-16 FIS Alpine World Cup season opener on the Rettenbach glacier in Soelden, Austria, scheduled for Oct. 24-25, delivered some promising news over the weekend as the area received its first snowfall of the year.

11947471_10153602199733518_2832288987324246887_nOn Saturday, Sep. 12, Soelden will open for glacier skiing on two upper lifts and Piste 32 from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., and the Rettenbach Restaurant will also open at that time.

While most World Cup teams are still preparing for the upcoming season in the southern hemisphere, excitement is building for the first giant slalom race of the year, just 45 days away.
