The FIS has approved the changes to the 2023-24 women’s and men’s World Cup calendars.

The women’s program for the 2023-24 World Cup calendar has one change: there will be no team combined event in Crans Montana, Switzerland. Instead, a second downhill race will take place at the Swiss venue. This update resulted in 23 speed events and 22 technical events, an increase from the initial 22 speed events scheduled in the spring. The women athletes will participate in 12 downhills, 11 super-Gs, 11 giant slaloms, and 11 slaloms, totaling 45 races for the season.

The men’s schedule changed, losing the November Lake Louise downhill, super-G, and the Kitbühel team combined event. However, the FIS intervened, adding an extra downhill in Kitbühel and Chamonix. This adjustment maintains the total at 21 speed events and 24 technical events initially scheduled. As a result, there’s now one less super-G but an additional downhill race. In the 2023-24 World Cup calendar, the men will compete in 13 downhills, eight super-Gs, 11 giant slaloms, and 13 slaloms, totaling 45 races.

In ski racing, expect and anticipate changes due to weather challenges.
