Britain’s Charlie Raposo, a Green Mountain Valley School alumnus who recently retired from racing, has a new job. The 28-year-old will now manage Lucas Pinheiro Braathen, who is returning to the World Cup racing for Brazil.
It is not news that Charlie Raposo, who announced his retirement as a ski racer on May 1st, and Lucas Pinheiro Braathen get along well. Now, the former competitors in the giant slalom World Cup are becoming a team, as the 28-year-old Brit takes on a vital role in the team of Braathen, who is changing his FIS license to Brazil, as manager and co-creative designer. When he announced his retirement, the Brit made it clear that he would remain in ski racing in some form. “I’m gone, but I’m not done with ski racing,” he said.
“Anyone who knows us knows that we both have big dreams and try to implement them as best as possible. I’m looking forward to working on the commercial side and in the media with many people I know from my time as a ski racer,” writes Raposo on Instagram. He is looking forward to the exciting things that lie ahead and the announcement of the collaboration is just the beginning. “I hope to enjoy this journey as much as the last one as a ski racer. I have a feeling it will be just as exciting.” The scene will be exciting to see what the two “birds of paradise” are up to. They will undoubtedly add a splash of color to the ski circus.
