Toko’s Jet series remains the easiest way to unlock elite race-day speed with simple, fast application methods that work on every snow surface. Below is the updated guide to getting the most out of Jet Liquid, Jet Bloc, and Jet Powder, including this season’s recommended techniques and spray-top updates.
Jet Liquid — Our Best All-Around Topcoat
Jet Liquid remains Toko’s most versatile and reliable topcoat. It excels in fast, glazed, or moist snow, but it can also perform exceptionally well in colder or more abrasive conditions when applied correctly. Because of this, I now recommend two distinct application methods.
1. Application for Colder, Less-Glazed Snow
When the snow is not fast, glazed, or wet, apply far less Jet Liquid than the traditional method.
How to apply:
- Spray from tail to tip over 1–2 seconds.
- With the black spray top, go closer to 1 second.
- With the white spray top, plan for 2 seconds.
- Immediately polish the entire base using a Thermo Cork.
- Within 10 seconds, the base should look dry, shiny, and slippery.
If it feels greasy, too much product has been applied. Jet Liquid should leave the base feeling dry, hard, and slick. If it feels oily, it will not run at full speed.
There’s no waiting time and no extra finishing steps. The ski is ready to go immediately—and the process is incredibly economical. Expect to treat about 40 pairs with one can when using this cold-snow technique.
Why tail to tip?
The first burst from the spray head is slightly heavier. Starting at the tail puts that extra product where it actually helps, instead of loading up the tip where it can become a liability. For cold snow applications, always spray tail → tip.
Use this method:
- Every time you are spraying blue
- With red when the snow is not expected to glaze
2. Application for Fast, Glazed, or Wet Snow
In faster, wetter, or more polished snow surfaces, continue with last season’s standard method.
How to apply:
- Spray from tip to tail (or tail to tip) in about 3 seconds with the black top, 5 seconds with the white top.
- Allow Jet Liquid to sit for about 10 minutes.
At that point, it is ready to race. Some users like finishing with a merino roller, but in glazed or wet conditions, leaving it alone is often both faster and more durable.
Jet Liquid Spray Tops — What’s New This Year
Last year’s Jet Liquid shipped with white spray tops, which produced a narrow, slower spray pattern that made full-base coverage more difficult.
This season’s bottles feature new black spray tops:
- Faster output (so move more quickly while spraying)
- Wider fan pattern
- Easier to lay down a thin, even layer across the full base
Most testers—including me—prefer the new black tops.
Jet Bloc — Two Strong Methods, One Clear Recommendation
Jet Bloc remains a go-to for athletes, technicians, and coaches seeking a durable, high-performance block-style topcoat. Below are two proven application approaches, with my personal recommendation first.
Preferred Method (Roto System)
- Rub Jet Bloc lightly and evenly along the entire base—only a very thin layer.
- Polish with a Merino Roller.
- Apply a second light layer in the same way.
- Polish again with the Merino Roller.
- Under good lighting, ensure the base looks black and slippery with no wax buildup in the structure. If you see residue or clumps, continue polishing until the base is clean.
This leaves only a micro-thin sheen of Jet Bloc worked into the ski’s microstructure—exactly what we want.
Without a Roto System
Use the same two-layer method but polish each layer by hand using a Thermo Cork.
Either approach works extremely well for between-run reapplications.
Pro Tip:
Many technicians finish Jet Bloc by adding a thin layer of Jet Liquid—an effective and popular combination.
Jet Powder — Use When Durability Matters Most
Jet Powder provides a similar speed to Jet Bloc but is the right choice when maximum durability is needed. It requires more time and the use of a hot iron.
How to apply:
- Shake Jet Powder onto the ski as you would any traditional topcoat powder.
- Iron with two solid passes at 180°C.
- Allow the ski to cool completely.
- Scrape with a plexi scraper.
- Brush thoroughly with a copper brush or horsehair roto.
- Finish with a Merino Roller.
Many technicians cover Jet Powder with Jet Liquid for even better performance and extended wear.
Final Thoughts
Each product in the Jet line serves a clear purpose:
- Jet Liquid — our most versatile topcoat with quick, race-ready application
- Jet Bloc — ideal for quick reapplications and a polished, durable surface
- Jet Powder — the right pick when longevity and strength are the priority
Used correctly, these topcoats deliver truly world-class speed. The updated spray systems and refined application methods make tuning faster, easier, and more efficient—for everyone from World Cup technicians to weekend racers.
If you want predictable, repeatable speed in every condition you’ll encounter this winter, the Jet series remains the most dependable solution in the Toko line.
