The Italian Ski Federation is preparing for the next season, and in order to safeguard the teams and staff, President Flavio Roda has reached an extraordinary agreement with the Stelvio glacier of exclusivity.

“The Italian Winter Sports Federation is committed to trying to set the best conditions for its athletes to carry out – as soon as the regulations allow – a certain amount of training on the snow and, with this in mind, I wanted to enter into an agreement with the Stelvio glacier,” said Roda.

The agreement establishes that FISI will have the exclusive right to lodging at the Hotel Livrio from June 1st to 30th and that the ski lifts will be open, at least in the first phase, only for the Italian Team athletes.

These are about 90 beds, managed in compliance with government regulations against the spread of Covid 19, which will give the possibility to the athletes of alpine skiing, snowboarding and also cross-country skiing to train on the glacier.

Priority in the use of the facilities of Stelvio will go to the World Cup Team and then, depending on availability, there may also be room for the Youth Nationals.

“It’s a period of great uncertainty,” commented President Roda. “We still don’t know if we will be able to make the trip to South America. So I thought it was appropriate to carry out this operation – thanks to the availability of the Italian glacier facilities – to allow the teams to safely plan the first part of the summer activity.”
