Who is racing, when are they racing, and how to watch the Kranjska Gora GS
The men’s season GS title is still undecided, with three giant slalom races remaining on the schedule. While the battle is most likely between Marco Odermatt and Henrik Kristoffersen, six men have yet to be mathematically eliminated. However, as well as Odermatt is skiing, it will take great skiing and a collapse of Odermatt to overtake the Swiss star.
Unfortunately, the weather is not cooperating in Kranjska Gora. They are not calling for an overnight freeze and Kranjska Gora is predicted to experience warm temperatures and overcast skies with the potential of rain throughout the night. A contingency plan is in place to run from a lower start if required. If they can race tomorrow, expect challenging conditions for the later starters. Once again, the FIS and the local race crew are being asked to provide a miracle. However, so far this season, they have delivered.
Eight North Americans will race the Saturday Kranjska Gora GS
The Stifel US Alpine Team has two members, two US independents, and Alpine Canada Aplin has entered four. Uniquely, the Stifel US Alpine Team continues to offer World Cup opportunities to deserving US independents. Two of the four US athletes in tomorrow’s GS are former members of the US Ski Team, now skiing with US coach Paul Epstein’s independent Global Racing.
