Who is racing, when and how to watch the January 24th Kronplatz GS
San Vigilio is in the beautiful Northern Italian Dolomite mountains, a little over an hour’s drive from Cortina.
The Kronplatz GS races are in San Vigilio on the ERTA slope. The ERTA is a difficult test for even the best racers. It is always a challenge. The ERTA starts on a pitch and keeps getting steeper. The race hill was built in 2003 and has been respected ever since.

The women’s World Cup giant slalom circuit has provided outstanding entertainment all season. When you add the ERTA slope, it will reach another level. The current women’s field is so deep that if they want to win, they must push their limits on a difficult course.
There have been six women’s giant slaloms this season and we have seen four different winners. The Italian Marta Bassino has been on the podium five times and has one victory. Seven women from six nations have populated the top three. Mikaela Shiffrin has three podiums, but they are all victories. It is exciting. Currently, Bassino leads Shiffrin in the season’s standings by 25 points.
The Alpine Canada Alpin team has three women starting tomorrow and the Stifel US Alpine Team has five. Both teams have World Cup women who will miss the race because they are participating in the FIS Alpine Junior World Championships in St Anton, Austria.
Due to new snow that must be removed from the slope, Stifel US Alpine Team coach, Mike Day, will set the first run in the morning.
