COPPER MOUNTAIN, Colo. — Stifel U.S. Ski Team speed standout Lauren Macuga sustained a right-knee ACL injury during Friday morning training and will miss the remainder of the World Cup season.

Macuga confirmed the news herself on Instagram, writing, “It’s me, I’m what’s broken 😞 RIP ACL, see you all next year 🫡.”

The 22-year-old was one of the brightest rising stars in the sport, coming off a breakthrough season that included her first World Cup win, her first downhill podium, and a World Championship super-G bronze medal. Her momentum made her one of the most anticipated athletes of the Olympic year.

The injury will require surgery, but Macuga’s trademark resilience remains. Her grit, joy, and fearlessness have defined her rapid rise on the World Cup tour — qualities her coaches, teammates, and fans expect will carry her through recovery.

This is a setback, not a full stop. Ski Racing Media will continue to follow her journey back.

More updates to come.
