According to reports out of Italy, which have been confirmed by SRM, Manfred Moelgg is the latest athlete to test positive for COVID-19 and is currently in quarantine. The 38-year-old Moelgg was significantly symptomatic with a cough and a fever. He’s currently recovering at his home in Italy.
The entire Moelgg family, with the exception of his sister, Manuela, was infected. His father was hit the hardest and remains in intensive care.
“I’ve been very bad for more than a week. I’m miserable,” Moelgg told the Dolomiten newspaper. “Fever, cough, chills, body aches — the whole program got me right. Nobody should come to me and tell me that corona should be taken lightly.”
It hasn’t been determined if the tech specialist, who finished 21st in Soelden, will be able to compete in the upcoming GS races in Val d’Isere, France, at the beginning of December.
