Stifel US Ski Team member Mikaela Shiffrin, the renowned ski racer, the winningest in history, took to Instagram to share her plans for the upcoming World Cup Finals in Saalbach, Austria. In a video post, Shiffrin expressed gratitude for the birthday wishes she received and updated fans on her schedule adjustment.

In her message, Shiffrin explained, “I just want to say thank you all for the birthday wishes. I really appreciate it, and I had a nice day.” She then delved into the reason behind her decision, stating, “I had a productive GS session, actually, but we have just run out of time to go through the right progression to be ready to race GS at World Cup Finals on Sunday. So we’re taking GS off the schedule.”

Despite the change, Shiffrin remains upbeat about her final race of the season, declaring her excitement for the slalom event on Saturday. “I’m really excited for one final slalom race of the season. I’m looking forward to pushing out of the gate one more time, and then get right into prep for next year,” she affirmed.

Shiffrin acknowledged her disappointment in not competing in GS, expressing, “Of course, I had hoped to push out of the GS start again this season, but we’ve run out of time to progress enough to be ready to race by Sunday.” However, she remains determined in her focus on the slalom event and her preparation for the upcoming season.

The ski racing community eagerly anticipates Shiffrin’s performance, especially after her recent victory in the slalom event. She has already won six slalom races this season and is poised to add another to her collection. Regardless of the outcome in Saalbach, Shiffrin will receive the Slalom Globe, honoring her outstanding performance throughout the season.

As fans eagerly await Shiffrin’s final race in Saalbach, they continue to rally behind her, knowing that each turn reveals the skiing legend’s unmatched determination and skill. With her sights set on the future, Mikaela Shiffrin is preparing for new challenges in the seasons to come.
