Møller to Miss Kitzbühel Super-G After Wengen Injury

Rising Norwegian star Fredrik Møller will miss this weekend’s Hahnenkamm Super-G in Kitzbühel. According to a Jan. 21 press release from the Norwegian Ski Federation, he injured his left leg during the Wengen downhill. Initial evaluations suggested the injury was minor. However, tests during ski training in Kitzbühel showed he is not ready to compete.

The 22-year-old is having a breakout season. He is ranked third in the Super-G standings, just 21 points behind Swiss superstar Marco Odermatt. Møller earned his first World Cup podium with a win at the prestigious Bormio Super-G on Dec. 29, 2024.

“I’ll head back to Norway for a short period to recover,” Møller said in the release. “I plan to return to the World Cup soon.”

Kriechmayr Also Sidelined
Austrian veteran Vincent Kriechmayr will also miss Kitzbühel. He injured himself during the Wengen downhill. Ranked second in the Super-G standings, he plans to return for the World Championships in Saalbach, Austria.

With both Møller and Kriechmayr absent, two of the top three Super-G skiers will miss the race. The Hahnenkamm Super-G now offers a key opportunity for others to gain ground in the standings.
