Norwegian men back on snow after season-ending knee injuries

Aug 10, 2021

Atle McGrath, Lucas Braathen, and Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, who all suffered season-ending knee injuries within weeks of each other last winter, returned to snow recently in Stelvio, Italy.

YOB-2000 athletes Braathen and McGrath have had 31 and 18 World Cup starts, respectively; both have hit the podium. Meanwhile, the senior athlete, Kilde, boasts six World Cup victories and 20 total podiums. For sure, he’ll be chasing a second overall globe and some Olympic hardware this season.

In coming back from injury, the three men will be tested in their own ways as they return to snow and get back into gates. There is a silver lining — they are facing this challenge together. McGrath even writes in his instagram post that joining his teammates on snow once again “feels like a family reunion.”

This team not only has new knees, but a huge love for the sport. Their first days on snow are important, and their return to the World Cup circuit is already highly anticipated.
