Photo Gallery: Western Region Junior Championship

The Western Region Junior Championships occurred from March 21st through the 24th at Alyeska Resort, Alaska.

The weather presented challenges for the first two days of the series. The first day was supposed to be the women’s GS and after only 24 women started, the race had to be canceled as the surface was deemed unfair and unsafe.

Both the men and women were scheduled to race slalom on March 22nd. However, only the women’s slalom was completed that day due to the challenges created by the new snowfall.

Initially, the schedule offered two slaloms, two giant slaloms, and a super-G for each gender. However, after fighting the elements, the women raced two slaloms and one giant slalom and the men raced one slalom and GS. Hopefully, the athletes could take advantage of the fantastic mountain when they couldn’t race.

Fortunately, Bob Eastaugh provided some photos to bring us a sense of the racing.
