The women’s World Cup night slalom that was originally scheduled to be held in Flachau has been moved to Schladming. While the location for the event has been changed, it is still scheduled to start at 6 p.m. local time on Jan. 11.
There are currently over 7,600 cases of COVID-19 in Flachau, which prompted the state of Salzburg to speak out about safety concerns surrounding the virus and ultimately led to this change in venue. This adjustment is a historical moment in ski racing, as it will be the first time women race a World Cup on the Planai.
Safety precautions regarding COVID-19 will continue to be implemented.
