For the 27th time in 30 years, Sölden’s Rettenbach glacier is poised to launch the World Cup season with thrilling giant slaloms (GS). The globe chase eagerly awaits the kickoff of the season, with Swiss Ski sensation Marco Odermatt embarking on his quest for his third career overall and GS titles. Nevertheless, Odermatt faces a daunting challenge from the world’s elite male skiers. All the top athletes have showcased their prowess and ability to win a World Cup GS. Odermatt, the reigning World Cup GS champion and World Champion finds himself among fierce competition in Sölden. He will be up against World Championship silver medalist Loic Meillard, bronze medalist Marco Schwarz, River Radamus from the Stifel US Ski Team, and a host of other formidable contenders.

Top eight GS men from the 2022-23 season

Once again, Sölden in the Ötztal Valley, Austrian Tirol, will host the world’s top GS skiers, marking the beginning of yet another thrilling season.

Sölden stands out with peaks like Gaislachkogl (10,000 ft), Tiefenbachkogl (10,663 ft), and Schwarze Schneide (10,958 ft), offering breathtaking mountain vistas. With 91 miles of diverse runs, it caters to all skill levels. Whether you’re into Alpine Ski World Cup excitement or fun après-ski activities like sledding, Sölden promises a memorable winter adventure.

Six North American men starting in Sölden are on the GS World Cup Start List 

There are nine North Americans on the October 29th Sölden GS start list.

The men’s first run starts at 5:00 a.m. Eastern Time and 2:00 a.m. on the West Coast. The second run will begin at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time and 5:00 a.m. on the West Coast. We remind you a full replay is available after the race.

In the USA, the men’s World Cups in Sölden will be available for viewing both live and as a replay on the streaming service Peacock.
