PARK CITY, Utah (Jan. 31, 2025) — U.S. Ski & Snowboard has named 21 athletes to represent the Stifel U.S. Ski Team at the 2025 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Saalbach, Austria, from Feb. 4-16.

The team is led by Mikaela Shiffrin, the most decorated skier in modern history, with 99 World Cup victories and seven World Championships gold medals. Shiffrin has won 14 medals in 17 World Championships starts. Joining her is Lindsey Vonn, an Olympic champion and eight-time World Championships medalist, returning to the event after coming out of retirement. Vonn last competed in the World Championships in 2019.

Rising Stars and Veteran Leaders

The team features both experienced podium contenders and emerging talents. Lauren Macuga enters the championships after securing her first World Cup victory in the St. Anton super-G. Katie Hensien, who finished fourth in the season-opening Sölden giant slalom, also joins the squad. Paula Moltzan, a returning team event world champion, is a strong contender in technical events after earning a giant slalom podium in Kronplatz.

On the men’s side, Jared Goldberg and Olympic silver medalist Ryan Cochran-Siegle bring podium experience from their performances in Val Gardena, Italy. River Radamus, a World Champion in the team event, will focus on giant slalom, while Ben Ritchie has consistently scored World Cup points this season in slalom.

Team Leadership and Outlook

“This has been an excellent season for both of our teams, with multiple podiums across all disciplines,” said U.S. Ski & Snowboard Chief of Sport Anouk Patty. “We have a strong group of veteran and up-and-coming athletes that we know will work together and push one another to the top of the podium.”

U.S. Ski & Snowboard CEO Sophie Goldschmidt echoed that confidence. “We are proud to announce our team for the World Championships. These athletes represent the dedication, resilience, and passion that define our organization. They’ve trained for this moment and are ready to compete at the highest level.”

New Format in Saalbach

The 2025 World Championships will take place at a single venue in Saalbach and will introduce a new team combined event. In this format, two athletes—one competing in downhill and the other in slalom—will combine their times to determine the winner.
