Who is racing, when are they racing, and how to watch

The women will finish their Kvitfjell World Cup racing with a Sunday super-G. Notably, they will compete on the Olympiabakken slope, the speed venue for the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics.

There have been six women’s World Cup super-Gs this season. Notably, there have been six different winners. While two of the six winners are Swiss, USA, Italy, Norway and Austria each have one victory. With two super-Gs remaining on the schedule the season’s title picture remains unclear. The top five are separated by only 32 points.

North Americans

Stifel US Alpine Team coach Jeff Lackie has set Sunday’s super-G.

Combined the North American teams have seven women entered. The Stifel US Alpine Team has five starting and Alpine Canada Alpin has one and one independent. Five North Americans have scored World Cup points this season and four of them are on tomorrow’s start list. Canadian Marie-Michele Gagnon has retired from the sport.

Currently, the only active North American skier who is qualified for the women’s World Cup super-G finals in Soldue Andora is Mikaela Shiffrin. The other three who have scored super-G points would need very high finishes to qualify but everything is still possible.

Mikaela Shiffrin has only raced three of the six 2022-23 women’s super-G races. Shiffrin did win one of the three she raced. Shiffrin also placed second in the super-G at the 2023 Méribel FIS Alpine World Ski Championships on February 8th.
