Emma Aicher

Paula Moltzan claimed her first World Cup victory in Sölden, edging Lara Colturi by just 0.01 seconds as Emma Aicher completed the podium in a dramatic season opener.

Emma Aicher’s 2026 season included 41 races across four disciplines, Olympic silver medals, and a season-long battle with Mikaela Shiffrin.

Laura Pirovano captured her first World Cup podium and victory in the Val di Fassa downhill, edging Emma Aicher by 0.01 seconds while Breezy Johnson led the Stifel U.S. Ski Team in third.

With the holiday break underway, the World Cup downhill standings are already taking shape in an Olympic season. Preseason injuries, Swiss dominance, and a front-loaded schedule are defining the women’s and men’s races as the road to Cortina d’Ampezzo and Bormio begins to narrow.

A close second day of downhill in Kvitfjell, Norway. Emma Aicher merely edges out Lauren Macuga by -0.03 for her first World Cup victory. Macuga achieves first downhill World Cup podium and Cornelia Hütter rounds out the podium.

The second World Cup downhill in Kvitfjell promises another fierce battle as Cornelia Hütter looks to secure back-to-back victories. Breezy Johnson, fresh off her first World Cup podium since 2021, aims to carry momentum into another top finish. Emma Aicher, who claimed her first career podium on Friday, will fight to prove she belongs among the best. With only two regular-season downhills left, every point is crucial in the race for the season title and World Cup Finals qualification.
