Women’s World Cup Downhill — Tarvisio (ITA)

Saturday, Jan. 17 | 5th downhill of the 2026 season

The women’s World Cup speed tour heads to Tarvisio for the fifth downhill of the 2026 season, and the Olympic-season stakes are unmistakable. For the Stifel U.S. Ski Team, Tarvisio is the final downhill where U.S. women can meet Olympic selection criteria. After this race, downhill selection moves to discretionary picks only, raising the pressure across the field.

The defining storyline of the season remains Lindsey Vonn’s return to the top of the sport. After coming out of retirement last season, the 41-year-old American now leads the downhill standings and enters every downhill as the favorite. Vonn owns the all-time World Cup downhill victory record with 45 wins and has collected 70 World Cup downhill podiums in her career, a total that includes those victories.
