VIDEO: Remembering the Portillo World Championships of 1966
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1966 World Alpine Ski Championships in Portillo, Chile, photographer and filmmaker Morten Andersen compiled this historical micro documentary of the only world championship event in alpine ski racing ever contested in the Southern Hemisphere. The races were a milestone for the Chilean ski industry and also the world, as athletes were challenged to acclimatize at high altitude and also deliver peak performances during the Northern Hemisphere’s summer.
