Wendy Holdener has sustained a setback this pre-season. The two-time combination world champion injured herself on both hands and will have to take a break for several weeks.

Holdener injured herself during fitness training on Monday when she fell on both hands from a training device. The immediate extensive radiological investigations at the Hirslanden Clinic revealed fractures of the navicular bones on both hands, which do not have to be operated on.

Thanks to immediate clarification and the best possible medical care, the athlete from Unteriberg will be able to ski again in just under a month. The X-ray controls during the rehabilitation process will then show whether she can start again in Levi.

“The two broken navicular bones on the wrists must be completely healed before racing is possible, as today’s technology, especially in slalom, exposes the wrist to great forces,” says Swiss-Ski team doctor Walter O. Frey.
