The Globe Race: Every Point Matters

The Globe Race: Every Point Matters

After six races, the Super-G crystal globe remains very much in play.

  • 🇮🇹 Sofia Goggia (ITA, 1992, Atomic) — 320 pts
  • 🇳🇿 Alice Robinson (NZL, 2001) — −20
  • 🇩🇪 Emma Aicher (GER, 2003, Head) — −96
  • 🇺🇸 Lindsey Vonn (USA, 1984, Head) — −130
  • 🇫🇷 Romane Miradoli (FRA, 1994) — −139
  • 🇨🇿 Ester Ledecká (CZE, 1995) — −140

Vonn’s injury removes one of the most experienced contenders from the fight, narrowing the globe battle to those still able to score in the final races.

With three races remaining, the title is far from decided. Every point could determine where an athlete finishes the season. No one is skiing conservatively.

It was encouraging to see Cashman finish 12th in Soldeu SG1, marking the sixth top-15 result of her career — all in Super-G.

Mary Bocock, who competed in her first Olympics at 22, delivered her third top-20 World Cup Super-G result of the season with a 17th-place finish — on the same venue the women will race on Sunday.

Lindsey Vonn is out for the season with a severe injury.

🇨🇦 Canada – Women’s Super-G

  • Bib 28 🇨🇦 Valérie Grenier (CAN, 1996) — World Cup SG Rank 24

Grenier competed at the 2026 Olympics.

What Àliga Demands

The Àliga course in Soldeu starts at 2,325 meters and drops 600 vertical meters across 2,246 meters of length.

It is a terrain-driven Super-G. Skiers must be balanced through long gliding sections and aggressive over rolls. The best athletes push the limit further than the rest because they are stronger and more skilled. That difference shows in tenths.

What to Watch

The battle for the Super-G crystal globe remains very close. Every point could determine how the season ends.

With Robinson, Goggia, Brignone and Aicher all starting inside the top 13, expect the intensity to build quickly.

The champions will separate themselves.

Course setter: Charlie Pircher (GER)

Sunday’s super-G takes place on March 1st and begins at 4:15 a.m. ET / 1:15 a.m. PT. Fans in Great Britain can watch the race at 9:15
