Stratton Mountain School (SMS) is seeking an experienced and motivated Alpine coach to join its high-performance program, working with FIS and post-graduate athletes in a competitive, athlete-centered environment.
This role provides an opportunity to contribute both on the hill and within program leadership, depending on the candidate’s experience and strengths. SMS has a long-standing reputation for developing athletes to the U.S. Ski Team, NCAA Division I programs, and international competition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver high-level training for FIS/PG athletes across slalom, giant slalom, and speed disciplines as appropriate
- Support athlete progression within a structured long-term development framework
- Manage competition planning, travel logistics, and on-hill execution at regional, national, and international events
- Collaborate with coaching staff, strength and conditioning personnel, and athlete support services
- Contribute to a positive, accountable, and high-performance team culture
Qualifications:
- Proven experience coaching FIS-level athletes; Europa Cup or World Cup experience preferred
- Strong technical understanding of alpine disciplines and athlete development pathways
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trust across athletes, staff, and families
- Commitment to long-term athlete development and a team-oriented environment
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, mission-driven program
Position Details:
- Full-time, year-round role
- Significant domestic and international travel required
