Karl Schmidhofer elected president of Austrian Ski Association
At Saturday’s meeting of the Austrian congress, the focus was on the elections for the 2021-2024 term. Karl Schmidhofer was unanimously elected as the new president of the Austrian Ski Association. The 59-year-old from Styria succeeds Peter Schröcksnadel, who has held this position since 1990. Schmidhofer takes over an “economically and athletically successful association,” according to a press release, to become the 22nd president in the 116-year history of the Austrian Ski Association.
In his first words as the new ÖSV President, Schmidhofer thanked his predecessor: “Of course, special thanks go to Prof. Peter Schröcksnadel for his decades of successful work in the Austrian Ski Association,” said Schmidhofer. “For the 1,100 clubs with 130,000 members, we also want to promote popular sport in particular and get the children excited about sport and exercise in the Austrian Ski Association … In addition, the ÖSV should remain an international showcase for Austria as a sport and tourism country with major events such as world cups and world championships.”
