On September 21st, the ski racing community came together to celebrate the life of Erich Sailer, a mentor, father, coach, and legend whose influence touched generations of athletes. Over 500 friends, family members, and colleagues gathered to honor a man whose influence extended far beyond the slopes.

Erich’s life was defined by his dedication to others. As a coach, he helped shape the careers of countless athletes, instilling not only technical skill but also the values of discipline, perseverance, and integrity. As a mentor and father, he offered guidance and support with kindness, humor, and unwavering honesty. Those who knew him speak of a man who demanded excellence but always led with compassion, someone who celebrated success and taught resilience through challenges.

The celebration featured heartfelt eulogies from some of the sport’s most respected figures. Olympic champion Lindsey Vonn shared personal stories of Erich’s guidance and mentorship, highlighting his ability to see potential in every athlete. Corey Carlson, Claire Biesemeyer, and Martina Sailer each reflected on the profound impact he had on their lives, both professionally and personally, offering moving insights into his role as a coach, mentor, dad, and friend.
