With new coaches, new confidence and more GS training, America’s downhillers are ready to race. It’s been a while since American men have put on a decent show on home snow. This weekend, they hope to change that on the famed Birds of Prey course at Beaver Creek, Colorado. “The first time I was on Birds of Prey was 2011,” says Ryan Cochran-Siegle. “We’ve had success intermittently, but it would be nice to put forth a stronger effort this season.”

River Radamus hopes to ‘earn his stripes’ as an American downhiller

It’s a serious step to add downhill to one’s repertoire. Still, for Radamus, who lives in nearby Edwards and grew up racing with Ski and Snowboard Club Vail, it seemed only appropriate for the World Cup’s one-stop at his home hill to be the place for his inaugural downhill race. Fleckenstein to Tackle World Cup solo, but Far From Alone

One of Canada’s fastest downhillers is flying solo this season … at least on paper. Sync athlete Stefanie Fleckenstein is relatively new to the international skiing stage but has made quick work of first impressions. Weather permitting, Fleckenstein will open her 2023-24 World Cup campaign racing the Zermatt-Cervinia downhills on November 18th and 19th.
