Four-time downhill globe winner Beat Feuz has decided to retire from ski racing after Wengen. The “Kugelblitz” lighting ball realizes it is time to end his alpine racing career.

“Pushing your limits and taking risks have been my passion in ski racing for years. My feeling was often the key to success. But now my feeling tells me that the physical limits have been reached », says the 35-year-old from Bern.

However, the speed specialist will continue racing this season, including the races in Kitzbühel: “After 16 years in the World Cup, I will end my active career as a ski racer on Saturday, January 21st. I’m looking forward to enjoying my favorite races in Wengen and Kitzbühel one last time as a competitor.”

Beat Feuz, who mainly raced in the speed disciplines, won three medals each at the Olympic Games and the World Championships in his career. He won his last major title last winter at the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing where he won the downhill gold medal.

“I’m incredibly grateful that I’ve been able to pursue my passion for so long and I’m now looking forward to more time with my family and I’m excited about the new challenges that will come into my life,” says Beat Feuz.

The national team athlete will speak in Bormio about his decision to retire. Until then, Beat Feuz will not be giving any interviews.
