It was an unfortunate stop in Val di Fassa, Italy, for the women’s World Cup as they experienced two canceled super-G races back-to-back. The event was canceled because of heavy snowfall, which caused unsafe conditions on the track.

The race crews worked tirelessly to try to get the races off, and FIS assured everyone on X/Twitter yesterday, “The work on the hill will continue in order to be ready for tomorrow.” However, the inclement weather did not favor them.

This was disappointing for the women, as the World Cup super-G Standings remain fiercely close. It was the third super-G race this season that was canceled for the women. The other event that had to cancel a super-G race this winter was in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, where the women also faced unfavorable weather conditions.

Lara Gut-Behrami of Switzerland still leads the women’s World Cup super-G Standings by five points over Cornelia Hütter of Austria. The women will have one more chance to compete in the discipline before the World Cup finals in Saalbach, Austria. The race will be on March 3rd in Kvitfjell, Norway.
