Changes coming to Saslong following summer FIS inspection
The International Ski Federation (FIS) has conducted an inspection of the Saslong course on July 9 in preparation of the World Cup ski races in December.
FIS Race Directors Markus Waldner and Hannes Trinkl walked the World Cup course top-to-bottom in the company of Organizing Committee Technicians, Race Director Rainer Senoner and Course Director Horst Demetz, as well as representatives for TV production.
Several improvements have been identified impacting safety measures at the Camel Humps, the spectator-friendly Jaegerhaus, and the entry to the Finish Schuss (Nucia). Larger investments are necessary in these areas that will be undertaken by the lift company Saslong AG. As for TV production, a few new and additional camera points have been selected along the Camel Humps, the most spectacular section of the downhill, and at the technically challenging entry to the Ciaslat.
The men’s World Cup races in in Val Gardena/Groeden take place on Dec. 18 and 19, 2015. The super G is currently set for Friday and the downhill for Saturday.
